Rollin'

Yikes it's been so long since I posted! We had a good Father's day (I'm pretty sure this picture was taken that day but even if it wasn't it's still a good picture of Dash and Dad), even though our little guy was pretty dang grumpy most of the day--we spent a little too much time out of the house the day before, so he didn't get enough nap time in. Poor guy! But we've learned our lesson and will try to be better parents in the future. :-)

Dash has been rolling around like crazy the past couple of weeks! I took a little video on our camera last week--He was just beginning to get cranky so he's whining away while he flips himself over. Yeah, you can tell I'm a parent since I find my child's whining to be cute instead of annoying...

Hair, or lackthereof.

When Dashiell was born he had such a lovely full head of hair! Now, not so much. Most of it fell out a few weeks back, and while it is slowly growing back in again, it still looks like he has a receding hair line. Thankfully he can pull this look off and we won't have to resort to the Baby Toupee: http://www.hulu.com/watch/19589/saturday-night-live-baby-toupee.

Thank you Dan for bringing this SNL sketch to my attention! Too funny!

Is it hot in here or is it Dashiell?

It' s a sweltering 94 degrees in our fair city this afternoon, and I have to say thank the fates for air conditioning! I know that's not the most "green" thing to say but honestly, if it weren't for AC I'd have one unhappy baby! But as you can see from the photo, Dash is taking the heat in stride!

I'm still trying to find interesting things to do during this heat wave--we usually spend a decent amount of time outside during the day, but the air quality is so crummy now that I'm guessing that would be a bad idea for both of us. We've been going mall walking nearly every day but that's pretty boring even on the best of days. At least the mall up in New Hampshire has a Starbucks--I can handle the boredom as long as I have an iced vanilla latte in hand...

BTW, going back to work last week was less than fun, but it could have been worse. It was hard to leave Dashiell for the day, but at least he got to spend quality time with Rick. And it's only part time, which is good. Who knows, once I get used to it, it might actually be nice to spend a couple of days a week with grown ups. It's just amazing how fast the time went during my maternity leave.

Hope you all have a great week--stay out of the heat if you can!

Shots hurt!

Dashiell had his 8 week doctor appointment yesterday, and everything looks great. Currently he weighs in at 12 lbs. 3 oz. and is 23.5 inches long. He gained almost 2 lbs! He also had to suffer through his first round of vaccines, the poor kiddo! He took it well, though--sure he cried but he was able to calm himself down between shots. However the rest of the day he was a little grumpier (and sleepier) than usual. And he had a slight fever, but nothing high enough to worry about. By this morning he was perfectly fine--no fever and much happier. Though still a little sleepier than usual--amazingly he slept for 9 hours last night, and has been napping for the past 2 hours. Now if he could just do that 2 hour nap for Rick tomorrow, we'll all be happy!

I'm posting another cell phone video that I took on Monday--he distinctly winks in it, which is just so dang cute! Hope you enjoy it!

Week of firsts

First off, I can't believe Dashiell's already 8 weeks old!! Wow! The time has passed way too quickly!

This week has been pretty fun for our little guy. He went to his first parade, went to the zoo, got to hang out with his Nana Hanson on Tuesday night while Rick and I went to the new Indiana Jones movie, AND he got to meet his aunt Elizabeth! Of course, he slept through the parade, and the zoo, and fell asleep while Elizabeth held him...but for him, that is fun!

I'm feeling a little sad about my return to work this week. Thankfully it'll only be part time but still, it'll be hard to be away from my little guy for such a long stretch of time. Ah well, I know it's what we have to do, and I know it could be a lot worse.

Hope everyone's enjoying their weekend, and thanks for reading--
