**smootch**

Funniest thing EVER the other day: Dash was playing with one of his favorite toys, this musical mirror thing that he can stand at and pound on and try to climb. I look over at him and he's leaning in towards his reflection with that open-mouth, awkward-teenage-boy expression and he gives himself a kiss in the mirror! Did it about 4 times in a row, until I tried to get a picture of it on my phone, then of course he got distracted and only wanted to play with my phone. So here are my attempts at getting a bad-quality picture of my boy giving himself a little sugar! Who can blame him? He's very kissable!
We went to a really great kid gym called "Together in Motion" for a playdate on Wednesday. It was a big room with padded floors and big foam blocks and wheels and things for kids to push around and climb on and jump over. It was "open gym" so there were a bunch kids ranging from infant to about 5 or 6. Dashiell LOVED it! I set him on the floor and he was off and crawling into the middle of everything and every one! Of course all the big kids kept nearly running him over or pushing gigantic blocks on him. So I'm coming to realize that playdates are now actually about Dashiell playing and not just about me chatting with the other moms, since I have to keep my eye on this guy and run after him constantly! Ha! We will definitely be going back to this gym--it's the perfect place for our active, social kid!

Just a few pictures

Not much to update but I wanted to post a few recent photos! My dad (who is a nut for his old restored Studebaker) gave Dashiell a Studebaker romper for Christmas and I finally got around to taking a few photos of him wearing it. He'll be too big for it well before it's in season! I also included a picture from right before our recent sledding outing (before it got bitterly cold in the Northeast!). All you facebook friends have already seen these, sorry if they're old news to you.

As you can see Dashiell is pulling himself up on all of our furniture now, and can somehow even pull himself up using just the wall or other flat vertical surfaces. And he's tentatively "cruising" a little, too (creeping from one end of the ottoman to the other, then grabbing onto the couch and moving along that, too). He'll be walking sooner than we want him to, that's for sure!

Tomorrow he gets to meet a big doggie, which will be fun. He LOVES big dogs. I'd get him one but I already take care of one being whose poo I'm a little too familiar with--I don't need another at this time. Maybe in a few years...

Have a wonderful weekend--

He oughta be in pictures...

Well damn. On a lark I've sent Dashiell's picture to a couple of local modeling agencies because like all mom's I think my baby is possibly the most beautiful child EVER and I thought "what the heck, might as well see if we can generate a little coin from this kid!" (for his college fund--hey MIT is expensive!). So I went with 2 agencies, the Boston Agency and Cameo Kids. The Boston Agency was pretty laid back, asked for a couple of shots and said they'd get back to me if they had anything. About a week or so after that we were sent an actual contract from Cameo. It seemed like they were more organized and had a bigger client base, so after sitting on the contract for over a month I decided to send it back. That was on Tuesday. Yesterday (as in 2 days after I sent in the contract for Cameo) the Boston agency calls to let me know there's a casting call coming up next week and they want Dashiell to be there! So I just had to call the rep back and let her know about our other contract. I guess she had sent his picture out to a number of clients recently, too. And I'm pretty sure the casting call next week is for Hasbro. Hasbro! As in, not some rinky-dink local company but Hasbro! Dang it! So needless to say, the Boston agency can no longer represent our boy, and we won't be seeing ads of Dashiell playing with Star Wars toys or chewing on a Monopoly board anytime soon. Sigh. Ah well--I went into this knowing that there was a good possibility that nothing would come of it. And at least I have the satisfaction of knowing that someone who sees beautiful kids all the time thinks Dashiell can compete! Um, not that that matters, of course...

In Lieu of the Video

Well the video I just tried posting below didn't work, but it seems like I can post a photo using that same web site without too many problems so here's a photo taken yesterday, right before we filmed the video:

Photobucket

I'll upload the video tonight after Dashiell goes to bed...

Where has the time gone?

I can't believe Dashiell is already 9 months old! How did that happen?? Seems like just last week I was freaking out about having to take care of Dash for a full 24 hour period by myself because Rick was going back to work. Ahh, memories...

Dashiell had his 9 month check-up this morning and all is well! He's now 19 lbs (25th percentile) and 29 1/4" long (80th percentile). Still a skinny noodle of a kid, but our pediatrician is fine with that. I even checked to make sure we're feeding him enough, and it seems like we are. So I guess our guy is just going to be slim! It makes sense, considering how active he is--seriously, Dashiell just never stops moving. And now that he's crawling, it means we're active too!

Dash seems to be hitting all of his developmental milestones right on or close to target, which is good. He doesn't point or wave yet, but the doctor said it might be too early for him to do either of those things. Soon enough he'll be pointing at everything, and waving at the furniture, I'm sure.

I'm going to try to post a little video, but I'm using a third-party web site for it so I'm not sure how this will work--if it doesn't I'll add it later when I get home. This is how we spend our days--playing on the living room floor, picking at random spots on the rug, crawling around. I try to narrate so he can eventually put words to his actions, but he's usually so intent on whatever it is that he's doing that he tunes me out. You can feel free to ignore my narration (please!). ;-)

Hope you all have a great weekend--we're supposed to get more snow...sigh...
